Fresno, CA - Former Fresno County Supervisor Debbie Poochigian is endorsing law enforcement and military veteran Michael Maher for Congress. Poochigian joins former Congresswoman Connie Conway and State Senator Shannon Grove in support of Maher.
Michael Maher is challenging incumbent Democrat Congressman Jim Costa in 2024, following Maher's 2022 campaign where despite being a largely unknown candidate running a grassroots campaign, national polls showed Maher tied with Costa. Those polling numbers forced Costa and the Democrats to spend over $1 million to win the seat. Maher is running once again against Costa, but this time with an earlier start and key local support.
In response to the endorsement, Maher noted, "I am so grateful to have the support of longtime local leaders like Debbie Poochigian. Building off 2022 momentum, I know we can win in 2024, not only because we came so close last time but because I know this area. I grew up in Tulare County. My father is a pastor here. My wife and I are raising our children in this community.
"I know we can win because I have the background and experience that voters are looking for."
